Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina ensures a reliable, economical, transparent and professional public administration which represents the interests of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and aspires to application of the best practices of EU. Beside the legislative activities, Ministry is, among others, competent for the matters of registrations of citizens’ associations, keeping registers of the citizens’ associations and nongovernmental organizations that act on the territory of BiH.  

 

Registration of Associations and Foundations

Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina is competent for registration of associations, foundations, offices or branchs  foreign and international associations and foundations in the Register and changes in the Register. Registration of associations, foundations, foreign and international associations and foundations in the Register is conducted in accordance to the Law on Associations and Foundations of BiH (''Official Gazette of BiH'', No: 32/01 and 42/03) and Rulebook on the method of keeping a register of associations and foundations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, foreign and international associations and foundations and other nonprofit organizations (''Official Gazette of BiH'', No: 44/10).

Registration of Churches and Religious Communities

Registration of churches and religious communities is conducted in accordance to  Law on the Freedom of Religion and Legal Position of Churches and Religious Communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina  („Official Gazette of BiH“, No. 5/04) and Rulebook on Establishing and Keeping of the Single Register of the Churches and Religious Communities, their Associations and Organizational Forms in Bosnia and Herzegovina („Official Gazette of BiH“, No: 46/04).

Churches and religious communities are communities, institutions and organizations of believers, established according to their own regulations, teachings, religions, traditions and practice whose legal ability is recognized, and which are registered in the Register of churches and religious communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 
The Register of the existing churches and religious communities, their associations and internal organizational forms is maintained by the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Registration of the Legal Persons Established by BiH Institutions

Legal persons established by the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina are registered in the Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina in accordance to the Law on Registration of the Legal Persons Established by the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina  (“Official Gazette of BiH“, No: 33/02 i 37/03).

Use of the Name of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Law on the Use of the Name of Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of BiH” No. 30/03, 42/04 and 50/08), regulates the conditions and ways of use and protection of the name of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the names of institutions, public, cultural and other associations of citizens and other legal persons which act on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Ministry is preparing the proposal for the use of name of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina gives approval.

Approving of the Making of the Seals

Ministry of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina approves making of the seals for the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina according to Law on the Seal of the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina („Official Gazette of BiH“, No: 12/98 and 14/03) and Instructions for keeping a record, storing and destroying of the seal of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina („Official Gazette of BiH“, No: 38/03).
This law regulates the form and features of the seals of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as its use by the institutions of BiH. The seal is used to certify the authenticity of the official documents. 

 Taking and Recognizing of the Professional Exams

Taking the professional exams is regulated by Decision on terms and ways of taking the professional administrative exam of probationary employees and employees at the level of BiH („Official Gazette of BiH“, No. 46/04 and 50/05).
Recognizing of the earlier passed professional exams, i.e. liberation from the obligation of taking the professional exam at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is conducted on the basis of comparison of the programs according to which a person passed the professional exam and  Program of the professional administrative exam of probationary employees and employees at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 Providing Opinions on Documents

Sector for Administration at the State Level provides opinions on drafts and proposals of the laws, decisions, instructions, conclusions, decrees and other normative documents regarding the issues relating to sanctions, organization and functioning of the administrative bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina and their mutual relations, as well as to all rulebooks on internal organization of institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
